A program that supports Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, Medical Lab Technicians, and Veterinarians to reconnect with their careers.

Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants

Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants – Health B is a free program for internationally-trained healthcare professions living in BC who are looking to return to occupations aligned with their skills and experience.

Career Paths Health B assists Newcomers with international experience as a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian, Medical Lab Technician, or Veterinarian who are committed to pursuing licensure in their pre-landing occupation, and gaining aligned employment in BC. A designated Career Advisor will assist you with job search and workplace orientation.

As a Participant of the Career Paths Health B program you will receive:

Guidance on licensing and regulatory requirements

Funding towards short-term training, language upgrading, and your professional designation

Access to mentorship services and assistance in building a professional network

Eligibility for Health B (Stream 1)


  • Obtained Permanent Resident status in the last 10 years and is still a Permanent Resident
  • British Columbia resident
  • Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian, Medical Lab Technician, or Veterinarian, prior to coming to Canada  
  • Interested in returning to work in one of the above professions
  • 1 year of pre-arrival experience
  • Intermediate to Advanced level of English
  • Currently Unemployed or Underemployed

Other healthcare professions: If you are a registered nurse, registered psychiatric nurse, licensed nurse, nurse aide, medical sonographer, general practitioner and family physician, or specialist physician, contact Douglas College Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants Program for eligibility and registration.

Note: If you don’t meet ALL of the above criteria, you are not eligible for the Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants Program. Please contact your local WorkBC Centre for Employment Services and support.
