What can I expect from my first appointment?

Your Career Advisor will work with you to assess your skills and background, identify your strengths, and determine any employment challenges (e.g., lack of Canadian work experience, limited interview skills, or lack of labour market information). We will work together to develop a personalized employment action plan to guide your job search and obtain a job that matches your qualifications.

What if I am looking for work in a regulated profession?

We will provide information on policies and guidelines of regulatory bodies and the steps required to achieve Canadian designation. The information will meet the specific requirements of your profession.

How can I learn about my industry in BC?

Career Paths hosts industry-specific workshops and events to provide local labour market information, industry trends, and employment opportunities. These events also provide connections with employers and other immigrant professionals working in your field.

How can I find a related job while I work towards my professional license?

Your Career Advisor will explore other jobs that use your skills and experience. We will help you gain related employment while working towards your professional license.

What are the Eligibility Requirements to participate in the Stream 2 or 3 Programs?
Will Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants pay for courses to upgrade my skills?
How will I improve my job search skills?

We offer workshops to develop skills in communication, resume writing, job search, interviewing, and networking. Workshops are designed to provide solutions for common challenges experienced by Immigrants. Our workshops are offered online for those unable to attend in person.

How can I connect with a Canadian mentor?

We will match you with a local mentor who will provide occupation-specific coaching to guide your career development and professional growth. You will have the opportunity to connect with professionals in your industry and establish your own networks.

What is the schedule of the program?

We offer flexible services offered in person and online. You and your Career Advisor will have the opportunity to discuss what suits your schedule best and develop an action plan based on your eligible time in the program.
