Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants

Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants is a free program for professional Newcomers new to Canada who live in Surrey, White Rock, Cloverdale, Langley, Aldergrove, Richmond, or Delta, and are looking to return to occupations aligned with their skills and experience.

Your Career Advisor will work with you to assist you with job search and workplace orientation, and provide guidance and coaching to help you work towards aligned employment in your field. 

As a participant of the Career Paths program you will receive:

Guidance on licensing and regulatory requirements

Funding towards short-term training, language upgrading, and your professional designation (if applicable)

Access to mentorship services and assistance in building a professional network

Do you reside in British Columbia, but not in one of the regions where Back in Motion delivers the Career Paths program?

Eligibility for Stream 2 and 3


Back in Motion Career Paths Program Streams 2 and 3 for Regulated and Unregulated Professions  serves clients that meet the following criteria:

  • Resident of Surrey, White Rock, Cloverdale, Langley, Aldergrove, Richmond, or Delta
  • Obtained Permanent Resident status in the last 10 years and is still a Permanent Resident
  • Unemployed or Underemployed
  • Interested in returning to work in pre-landing profession
  • I have 1 year pre-arrival experience in a regulated profession
  • I have 2 years pre-arrival experience in an unregulated profession (1 year if 30 years old or younger)
  • Intermediate to Advanced level of English

If you don’t meet ALL of the above criteria, you are not eligible for the Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants Program at Back in Motion. Please contact your local WorkBC Centre for Employment Services to access additional supports and services.

Step 3: If you meet the basic eligibility criteria, one of our Program Assistants will be in contact with you to discuss next steps.
